Wastewater treatment

Before the wastewater enters the primary settling tanks, influent is first treated with iron chloric sulphate to remove phosphates. Besides the removal of phosphorus, the iron addition stimulates the settlement of organic material to be removed as primary sludge. The resulting effluent of the primary settling tanks is sent to aeration tanks, where it is mixed with oxygen and active sludge to remove organic matter. The active sludge is then separated from the water in secondary sedimentation tanks.
