Air treatment

Because the plant is located in a densely populated urban environment, air from all the treatment processes is specially treated to reduce smell nuisance. The air treatment unit is made up of chemical scrubbers using sulphuric acid, hypochlorite and caustic soda. In addition, air from the sludge compacting process goes through a activated carbon filter. The purified air is released via a chimney located in the dunes, near the sea.
